resume'?
why all the question marks? It seems like you were going on one direction and shifted paths- then stayed in that path for 6 years...is it your ideal? does it pay great with excellent retirement and all that secure stuff?
cause that can be enticing
also, if film making is your passion, are you doing it on the side on your own? if so, can you add that to your resume' or is this for more work in the industry youre in

Re: resume'?
yep my resume. The Question marks appear to be converted from the 'bullet symbols' and not intentionally placed by me.
My company is a small service to this industry, so no, no great pay and little benefits.
I shifted paths, not of my own choosing, I needed work, and A/V jobs were scarce- that is were i wish i was, but....
Film-making remains a passion for me, and I desire to find my way back into it someday/somehow. Lately I have been writing, and perhaps my film script will sell .... or open a door for me...
As for the O&G industry, my 6 years experience provides me an excellent op for getting good money and benefit with a large company, thats my current best bet...hopefully (with a little refinement) this resume' will get me there. (however I do have a hard time with some my Environmentalist vs. This Industry issues...)
I mentioned before, I believe, that it would be helpful to chat more with you about your work- maybe some Mentoring?

big companies want to think they will have you for as long as they want and not think you have other more romantic desires that could distract you.
I have several resumes:
Director / producer
editor
graphic artist
photo retoucher
fitness instructor
Bartender, catering cook
I am looking for full time work in the film industry these days- or at least more consistent and higher paying freelance gigs.

True!
Good point, This format shows a "general" work experiance...Thanks for the thought, I had thought of that before but wasn't sure about it now i gues... a more detailed look at my skills set in this (any) industry might be a better way to go.
Yes and like you... I could put out a few different resumes...

Re: True!
I also put it all on one page, 12 or 14 size fontat the top right corner in bold clear font is
my name and cell phone number-
address and etc. can be discussed and delivered with further interest.
they wanna know what you've done in the feild, how much of it you've done and that you are clear, consientious, etc.

Re: True!
I have all my contact info there- omitted for the lj post though.I will re-vamp the format, and be sure to try the industry only style too.
I need to work up the cover letter too, fine tune my goals for career placement etc.
Gee, its like a full time job jsut to get all this together, eh?

Re: True!
well, for jobs I'm up for - no cover letter is recommended-just one page to get it all in there
one or two lines stating OBJECTIVES
another few lines stating SKILLS and program proficiencies
and then a list of WORK EXPERIENCE
and then SCHOOLING
no one here takes time to read or review more than a page.

Re: True!
yeah, i guess it depends on the market, the town, the company...etc...one thing i wish i could find is an 3/4" VTR to look through all my old production tapes and transfer some of that to a digital reel....

Re: True!
go to a university, find a film student willing to help you- post a sign- maybe offer some cash- film students often have free access to lots of great equip.or
make new stuff.

Re: True!
yeah, new stuff....indeed.

Re: True!
you could finish school too- or even just get started again in the film dept...that gives you access to all sorts of creative tools and other artistsif you are single and have no kids (implying that there is sacrifice in those situations)...then really - you may as well go for your bliss
your first draft of resume' posted here implies a regret or like you feel like u r missing out on what you would rather be doing-
so either face the fact that you really didn't want that life or go for it like it's oxygen and you've been under water.
